The video in this post was a recording of the lecture on the 27th March 2014 and consisted mainly of a SketchUp tutorial. This video helped me understand some of the fundamentals and quick tips in SketchUp will allowed me to further progress on my model and understanding of the program:

First Draft at SketchUp - Upper, Middle and Lower Floor

The images above show different view points of the construct. The first image shows the back of both constructs - the above and below ground areas. The second image is the front view of the building. The third image is a perspective to help understand the way in which the buildings are positioned in relation to each other. The fourth and fifth are both sections taken at different points within the building and the 6th image is an overhead perspective. The construction of this building helped me understand more about SketchUp and gave me more ideas on what to use in the final model.

3 Images for Week 0

1. Post Three Images:
a)

The two images above represent a part of my Year 12 Major Work. The first image is the final SketchUp images of the house i was constructing. It shows the sections of the house from different angles (e.g. left, right and front). These sections allow a broader understanding of the different components of the house and the materials used within the construction of the interior. The second image shows a variety of hand drawing of the SketchUp Image. The top right drawing is the site plan, the top left is the floor plan (two story), the bottom left is the elevations and the bottom right is the landscape design.

b)

The Great Pyramids of Giza, constructed in Egypt over 4,500 years ago serve as an indication on the capabilities and sophistication of architecture within the ancient world. Using a skilled labor force of approximately 200,000 men the Pyramids were constructed to an uncanny precision using the same method that had been used for earlier and later constructions - laying out parts of the plan on the ground at a 1-to-1 scale. Such a working diagram would also serve to generate the architecture of the pyramid with precision unmatched by any other means. The significance of the pyramids in terms of architectural management (planning, designing and construction) is evident by the fact that it is the oldest surviving pyramid to date, allowing us to access the capabilities of the Ancient world and understand the change of architecture over time in different areas of the world.

c)

Petra is one of the most awe inspiring architectural constructions in Jordan and continually amazes me despite the many times i have visited it. Petra was built by the Nabataens and was made their capital. Construction dates back to almost 312BC. Petra has also been considered as one of the modern 7 wonders of the world.
